Shenandoah Conservatory Jazz Ensemble
Craig Fraedrich, Shenandoah Conservatory's Jazz Ensemble Director
Craig Fraedrich served for 25 years as a soloist with the Army Blues Jazz Ensemble.
Fraedrich’s CD ”So in Love” reached #12 on the Billboard National Jazz Radio charts.
He has also had over sixty compositions and arrangements performed by the Army Blues.
Shenandoah Conservatory's premiere jazz ensemble performs big band standards and contemporary works by today's jazz giants.
All performances take place in Armstrong Concert Hall.

Lush Life: The Music of Billy Strayhorn and Duke Ellington

The legendary 30-year collaboration between composer/pianist/arranger Billy Strayhorn and famous bandleader Duke Ellington is the focus of this exciting program featuring the duo’s most popular hits including “Satin Doll” and “Take the A Train.”
New Directions featuring the Music of Alan Baylock

The finale concert of the jazz series season features the music and arrangements of rising star and new conservatory faculty member Alan Baylock.
Alan Baylock, Shenandoah Conservatory’s new jazz composer-in residence
Alan Baylock has written compositions and arrangements that have been performed and recorded
by jazz greats such as Freddie Hubbard, Michael Brecker, Maynard Ferguson, Arturo Sandoval, Joe Lovano,
Dave Liebman and Al Jarreau.
Baylock is also the chief arranger for the United States Airforce Airmen of Note.
